A Time of Healing is over!!! Time for my Crafts

Good Morning dear friends.. I can't believe how long it has been since I posted on this blog.  Since 2011 many things have happened in my life.  Due to arthritis in my back and hips I had to stop work in 2012.  Being labeled "disabled" is not what I ever thought would happen to me.  I was working from home doing medical transcription for a local doctor who understood my fibromyalgia disease and it's intermittent need for shorter days if needed.  On January 31, 2013 I had my right hip replaced and on June 2, 2014 the left hip was replaced.  My doctor was wonderful.  I walked out of the hospital the day after surgery with a new outlook on life.  Somehow I would take back my life. My "take back" has been slow due to severe osteoarthritis in my lower back, but I am still moving forward.

Along the way I found I needed to lighten the load a bit so ended up selling my treadle machine.  I also started doing more crocheting.  I am now making lap size and toddler size afghans.  I have donated many for fund raisers and then seem to go over well.  I tried my hand at selling on Etsy, but people just will not buy them, although I did get special orders for a few, which was nice.  I also made and sold soy candles for about a year, which I loved doing and they sold great on Etsy and from my home.  Due to the back problems I had to stop doing that.  My husband and I still make them for Christmas presents each year, but that is all I can do for now.

My wonderful husband bought me a nice new Brother Project Runway PC420PRW 294-Stitch Professional Grade Computerized Sewing Machine with 3 Built-In Lettering Styles, and Carrying Case.  I have looked it over and stepped away a few times as it looks to be more than I want to deal with right now.

Right now I am trying to rearrange my craft area.  I have made a couple of very good deals with local ladies that had decided to stop crocheting and I bought there yarn supply.  All I can say is wow!  I then won an essay contest online.  The agreement to enter was to send part of your stash to the winner.   Another Wow!  I have received many beautiful yarns that I never would have ordered otherwise!

I guess that is about it for now.  I will try to take pics of my craft room when everything is sorted through.  I will also try and update my profile info as our granddaughter Raegan is now 10 and was 4 the last time I updated.  Where does the time go?

Take care my friends.

Where has the time gone??? December 2010 was my last entry! I hope you all have had a good year so far. I am trying to get used to 2 new doctor's offices that I do transcription for since February. After having a wonderful doctor for the past 7 years he had to make the decision to close his practice due to the single payer plan that seems to be happening here in VT. Hopefully once I start making more money and get these accounts where I am feeling more "at home" I will be on here a bit more.

I have started a huge stash of old jewelry and beads for repurposing and hopefully one day will add pics of something that these 2 hands actual made.

For now it is back to work.. take care my friends!

Cleaning out my stash!

Hi All,

It is time to clear out some of my stash and make a bit of very much needed money. I am only working part time at this point and feel I need to contribute a bit more than I am. I am in the process of putting together fabric and embellishments for sale on my etsy store. I hope you will all take a look when they are ready. I have so much stash that I will never use it all.

I will update when everything is in place to sell.

Thanks,
Nancy

1913 Singer 128K crank sewing machine

I have always wanted a nice little hand crank machine. I was lucky enough to find this on ebay a few months ago. It is a 1913 Singer 128 with La Vincendora decals. It was made between July and December 1913 at the Kilbowie Singer factory in Clydebank, Scotland. When it was delivered I had to clean up the shuttle bobbin as it looked like a rat nest.. but after I rewound the bobbin correctly I tried it out and just like the old Singer machines are known for, she sewed just perfect!

1956 Singer Featherweight

I purchased my "birthday" 1956 Singer Featherweight recently. Here are her pictures along with all her great attachments that include a automatic zigzagger, buttonholer, and a complete box of attachments. She works like a dream. I can fondly remember my grandmother, Anna Josephine Pfenning using her little featherweight. They lived in Vermont, but were known to "winter" in Florida so it was the perfect size to stow in their car on their trips south.

Silkies/ciggies at my etsy store

After searching for silkies/ciggies for my CQ stash I decided to make an investment buying clipart and supplies to make my own silkies.

I had seen some out there, but like what I wanted to use. I then decided that I was probably not alone so made the step to not only an Etsy buyer, but an Etsy seller.

My store opened on Saturday evening. It got many hits over the next 48 hours. I am hopeful people will find my store and stop buy to purchase silkies for their own CQ stashes!

I started out with woman, children, flowers, and butterflies. I hope to expand into buildings, people, animals, and items.
